Business Brand & Services

Michelle provides design services to clients all over the world, giving them personal service with high standards of design and typography that rivals the best of the big publishers. She brings insights gained from decades of book design to help authors realize their goals through producing top-quality books.

Michelle designs eye-catching covers that dynamically represent the books and drive sales. Staying up to date with current aesthetics and design styles, she makes sure each cover is recognizable as its genre but has a distinctive flair that attracts attention. Her cover designs both fit in and stand out.

All of Michelle’s interior page designs are custom created to bring out the unique personality of each book. Her designs invoke the style of the cover, present the proper look and feel for the subject matter, and provide an attractive and easily navigated reading experience. Her book layouts utilize creative typography to visually prioritize the various elements of nonfiction books, fostering understanding without distracting the reader. Striking the perfect balance between form and function drives the process of designing exceptional books that readers love.

Once the book’s design is created, Michelle applies meticulous attention to detail in the layout and production process while maintaining high typographical standards. Her knowledge of prepress and print-on-demand allows her to create user-friendly e-pubs and final press-ready pdfs that result in quality printed books.

Michelle’s career began with in-house graphic design for a commercial printer and evolved to working in a prepress house where she designed and prepared magazines and textbooks for printing. When the company closed their South Florida plant, she took advantage of that door closing and opened her own business where she could focus full-time on book design.

Growing up in a large family that loved both books and nature, some of her fondest memories are bike rides to the library with her mother and exploring the forest in northern Wisconsin with her father. She now lives in South Florida with her husband and youngest son. Her two older children are married and have wonderful families of their own. Michelle loves learning new things and reading about history and the interconnection between the natural world and our individual and collective life journeys. She is vegan and enjoys yoga, nature walks, and beach time, and she relishes every moment with her beautiful grandchildren. She still looks forward to a get-together with her growing extended family every July at their lakeside cottage in the woods, where everyone always brings a book to read.
